I was born, live and work in Verona. I took drawing courses at the Cignaroli Academy. I travel a lot in books and miles. I am for a more just world and respect for every human being.
Why do I paint? There is not one reason for doing it. I have always cultivated a passion for painting; a love that grows and develops over time. It is color that draws me. How long does it take me to make a painting? I answer with the words of master Pierre August Renoir: "It took me an hour to make this painting, but it took me 50 years to get there!" In observing my surroundings, I often find a poetic side that moves me. This is how I internalize countless subjects, aware that I do not realize them all. Subjects and shapes populate my dreams; sometimes they suggest the missing color or background on the next canvas, still blank. I am attracted to used, ruined, abandoned objects: I fantasize about their lived experience, trying to give them new life. I am attracted to the looks of the characters I paint and portray as a silent witness to the moods I capture. I love the light, the warmth of the sun and the silence as I work. Sometimes, in the studio, a slight melancholy is my sweet companion. About 20 years ago, I passed by chance (or by luck), by Saintes Marie de la Mer during the international gypsy pilgrimage: songs, prayers, music, dances, an almost primordial devotion. I stopped enraptured. Those looks have never left me since.
