The exhibition takes place in conjunction with symposia on the dynamics of European politics and the significance and diversity of European culture. It offers an excellent opportunity for dialogue between political decision-makers and artists.

@@DUETS
This participatory art project presents collaborative works created by artists from several EU countries who worked together in 2025 and 2026. Selected original paintings and original graphic works are shown, as well as a book containing reproductions of all submitted works.

BIRDS DON’T STOP AT BORDERS
Art has the potential to challenge dominant narratives and stereotypes associated with migration. It can demonstrate that migration movements are far more complex than the simplistic polarization of “us” and “them.” With the presentation of the series BIRDS DON’T STOP AT BORDERS, AiM documents the diversity of societies shaped by immigration. The artists edited photographs taken at the Lithuanian–Russian border near the Curonian Spit.

SHIFTING & DRIFTING HORIZONS
This series explores the ability to adopt unfamiliar perspectives. Images of horizons submitted by the artists were vertically shifted into poetic collages by Wim Scheere and, in a second step, were expanded by other artists with their own works.

CROSSING BORDERS
In 2026, the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Geneva Refugee Convention is commemorated. On this occasion, printed templates were artistically reworked in the tradition of blackout poetry. In parallel, under the title Serpentinen, the social relevance of border crossings is interpreted. The paths incorporated into abstracted maps in original and individual ways are arranged side by side to form a continuous route.
