Joëlle Kuhne

Organizer and curator of exhibitions and concerts
Engenthal-le-Bas, France

Joelle unmasked a“Les Mam’zelles de Jo” are “material images,” imaginary characters, sometimes a tribute, always a daydream.
Their story is told with the tip of a needle, written with assemblies of fabrics, beads, buttons, feathers, jewelry, and a thousand other little trinkets, alternately taken apart, reassembled, or simply … placed. The materials play with movements that form and deform. The colors harmonize, tyrannize, provoke, and summon each other …
To all these figurative characters are added more abstract collages, which address various subjects and leave to the viewer’s imagination the pleasure of reading their own stories into them.
Joëlle Kuhne is an ethnologist, with a doctorate in cinema and anthropology. Watching, listening, feeling, communicating, “playing” … these are the paths she follows to achieve the meeting of the arts.
As president of the FIATABEC association, she organizes concerts, workshops, exhibitions … and joins various groups where the five senses are alternately or simultaneously engaged.
