Born in Hessen near Frankfurt am Main, Heidrun MalComes has worked as a professional photographer since 1981. In 1987, she completed her studies in Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Würzburg, graduating with a diploma, specialized on photography. She subsequently worked as an art director in various advertising agencies before becoming self-employed in the millennium year. For the past 25 years, Heidrun MalComes has lived and worked in Karlsruhe-Grötzingen. Right on a riverbank is her studio „malcoART“ while she also runs her gallery KUBA, located in the village center. Her artistic work includes paintings, sculptures, and fine art photography, as well as literary texts, which she has published in four books to date. Driven by her curiosity and openness, the artist deliberately avoids committing herself to a fixed artistic style. Inspired by her life motto “Panta rhei” (“everything flows”), she connects her work with a consistently contemporary, socially critical view of global affairs, placing the human individual at the center. She herself describes her art as “art without filters,” which is perceived by audiences as honest and courageous and is appreciated by a now well-established circle of collectors. Since 1983, Heidrun MalComes has exhibited regularly both nationally and internationally. She has received numerous awards, including prizes from the German Federal Ministry of Transport, as well as several first and second prizes at art competitions, such as “Das Goldene Segel,” awards for paintings in Bremen and accolades for photography at the Hanover Trade Fair.
In addition to the events she regularly organizes, her works are available through her own website, at Galerie KUBA and via various online galleries. The range extends from signed photographic posters and limited-edition prints of her small-format Scribble Arts to medium- and large-format unique paintings on canvas in a wide variety of mixed-media techniques.
