Francisca van Vloten works as an art-historical and literary researcher and writer.

She is working on a PhD in Cultural Sciences at the Radboud University in Nijmegen (Domburg as a Seaside Resort and Artists' Colony in European context).
In 1976 she received the first Theater Prize from Toneelgroep Centrum, NRC Handelsblad and Toneel Teatraal for her play Mono-Stereo. The Zealand Bookprize 2004 was awarded to her for Moen! Between Toorop and Mondrian. This publication tells the story of Domburg as an Artists' Colony with the artist Mies Elout-Drabbe at its centre.
