Iain lives in Argyll in the West Coast of Scotland, he retired as a Glasgow College of Piping Highland Bagpipe tutor for Inverclyde Schools.

Trained in Port Glasgow as a Shipbuilding Draughtsman. He worked in Zambia as a Geological Draughtsman and mine planning engineer.

His heart lies with piping, especially The Great Highland Bagpipe and Piobaireachd which is the classical music of the Great Highland Bagpipe. He also plays Northumbrian Small Pipes with a Scottish Small Pipe chanter, Low D and other whistles. He is a former member of the Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band.

Iain’s second love is painting and drawing. Iain has painted in acrylics for many years and has also worked with various printing techniques, lino and one off roller printing.

He is inspired by the ancient land and landscape of Scotland. The islands off the West Coast of Scotland hold a special place in his work. The colours, atmospherics, shapes and history of the land create an ethereal texture in his work to capture your interest. He often includes scraps of old Piobaireachd music in his paintings.

He has held several joint Exhibitions: Gallimaufry Gallery, Blairmore: Juno Gallery, Dunoon: Pink Gallery, Helensburgh.

He currently exhibits in the Stables Gallery, Inveraray: Jetty Gallery, Oban: Seagull Gallery, Gourock and the Castle Gallery, Rothesay.
